"Life is too short to spend time reading what you don't like." Assaph Mehr
I agree. Below is the list of genres I'd like to read and review: YA, Adult, Fiction
Fantasy and fantasy romance,
History fiction romance,
Contemporary romance, suspense and mystery.

If your romance is synonym for erotica, I would not care to review it. I also wouldn't do well with rape, human or animal cruelty, suspense through the eyes of a killer, dark paranormal or spiritual books.

Please note, I live in Canada, and my reviews would be posted on Amamzon.ca

The Vampire Salvatore by Kimmey Fitts

Let me just start by saying I love romance, and fantasy adds extra spice and unpredictability. In this case, the story is set in the future, the year 2085 A.D. The last world war claimed many human lives, including Celeste's father and brother. Aware of different species living among them, humans go out only during the day because other creatures claim the night. Celeste's mother is ill and could be dying. The times are tough, and life is hard, and when Ross, Celeste's childhood friend, offers his assistance and protection, Celeste and her mother are happy to let him move in with them.
A good decent man is hard to come by. Celeste knows it is sort of implied that she and Ross would marry...eventually...when she is ready. But, why isn't she? She loves him very much, but Celeste is not in love with him. She loves him like a friend, like a brother. She knows it's silly to expect some epic love story in the times they live. Still, she can't bring herself to commit. Oh, one more thing; Celeste can read minds! Apparently, so could her aunt, but she never met her and didn't know where she lives.
It is when Celeste meets Salvatore that her perception of love, life and future entirely changes. Meeting his parents, she discovers a secret her family kept from her. The revelation is shocking and almost unbelievable until her mother confirms it. With Salvatore, she sets off to meet her relatives, who could help her uncover the truth about her father, and learn who and what she is.
Anything more about the story would be a spoiler, so I'll withhold it. I will say more about its strength and a couple of weaknesses I noticed.

The plot is fantastic. I loved it. The approach on Vampires has a combination of light and dark sides. Even though a good guy, to survive as a vampire, Salvatore must drain the blood out of a human; therefore, he must kill. The author's words do not show the power of love between the two. The couple's deeds do. Celeste's complete acceptance of Salvatore manifests the depth of her love and commitment to him and their relationship. Salvatore's readiness to fulfill her every whim and desire clearly shows his adoration.
The writing style is excellent. The sentences are short and to the point. Fitts has a gift for making an entry and ending with a BOOM.
I think the author could've omitted some of, "he said; I said," and add more description in overcoming the obstacles. It would add colour to the story.
I loved reading it, and those who enjoy fantasy romance should not miss out.
I give it a strong four-star read.

Last Time She Died by Niki Kamerzell

⭐⭐⭐⭐
I want to start by saying I'm not a fan of dark paranormal fantasy. It was a challenge at first. It could be because I read it before bed. But the more I read, the more I wanted to know.
It starts with a car ride, wind, rain, YELLOW clouds at night, screeching noise, smoke, static, scary whisper through the radio, and it goes on and on. I mean, from the first page, I was in that car, experiencing all of that, and CRASH!!! C'mon, you can't blame me for not being crazy about it. The next chapter is about a young woman, Cali. While doing her own thing, she is seeing? hallucinating? who knows at this point? her dead best friend, Lexi, coming out of a wall plus some more dark stuff.
Okay, I'm confused, but so is she.
The main character Alexia relives the night of the car crash over and over again. She is terrified to fall asleep. Awaken, she is pulled into a different reality; or realities, as if others live inside her. She can feel the emotions and know the thoughts, yet she is not quite sure who the person at the time is. The man who appears in each of those dimensions is familiar, but she is just a hair away from knowing who he is. Most of those realities are beautiful, so the reader has a break. Past? Present? Future?
And that's how Niki Kamerzell pulls you in. You identify with characters; you are confused, scared, intrigued and want to figure things out.
At this point, there is a pattern, and you are guessing; is she alive or not? Is that place some kind of Purgatory? Limbo? Why does she keep dreaming about that car crash? But by the time you learn the truth about Alexia's condition, you meet Blaine. At this point, things start falling into place, and you start connecting dots. And so is Alexia.
I would love to tell you a few more things, but everything from here on would be a spoiler.
The plot is unique; I never heard one like it. Present - and that may not be the right word - and past are intertwined, and the people are the same but not. Everyone has a reason to be in that place at that time, but until things start to unravel, it is unknown how it all fits together.
Even though a dark paranormal, "Last Time She Died," was a good read. I would recommend it to all dark fantasy lovers.
Good for you, Niki, keep them coming!
