Hello, everyone, here comes another wonderful author, Tanya Vezza. Her unique experience will enhance your faith and believes. Those who lack faith will be stirred, the weak will be strengthened and the strong will be fortified.  The Lord will meet you exactly where you are.

Hello! My name is Tanya Vezza, author of “Lessons From God: Keys For Living a Victorious Life,” released on 1/24/2018.

I am a self-published author, so my biggest challenge has been finding my target audience. After a couple of years muddling around on my own, I found a social media marketing expert, Ms. Jen Marie Taylor, who was able to help me tailor my message, as well as give me actionable steps and general direction. Since then, things have started to turn around. Sometimes it’s helpful to get an outside perspective.

“Lessons From God” is my first solo work. I wrote the book in the midst of our family going through several years of very difficult circumstances that included multiple job losses, financial struggle, and uncertainty. God taught me lessons that kept my hope and faith alive through everything we experienced. That’s what He put on my heart to share with others in the book. I am currently in the early stages of my second book, another Christian non-fiction relating to God’s heart towards families.

You can learn more about “Lessons From God” or purchase it at: https://tanyavezza.com/

In addition to my own book, I was a contributing writer for “God Speaks: Perspectives on Hearing God’s Voice” released by Praying Medic in 2017.

In celebration of the 3rd anniversary of the book’s release, there will be a Giveaway in February 2021. Details will be available on my FB and IG pages (Tanya Vezza) and website.

Lucie Ataya shared her story, and more...

Today we have with us a wonderful writer, the author of "No Pain, No Gain," who was willing to share her story, and give us a few tips.
My name is Lucie Ataya. I’m originally from France, but have been living in the UK for almost a decade now.

The biggest struggle for me was actually putting the book out there and exposing myself to what I was convinced would be a wave of rejection and disapproval. I didn’t have the confidence to stand for my own work, and that stopped me from finalising the book for a long time. It’s still a learning curve, and trial and error when it comes to self promotion, but I’m working on having pride in the writing I do and my achievements.
The second biggest struggle has been self-promotion, because it’s hard selling yourself and your book which comes to feels a lot like your baby. Someone said to me on Instagram that self-promotion isn’t so much about why people should buy YOUR BOOK, but more about why they should buy it FROM YOU. So all you can really do is be yourself, be genuine and kind to others, and the rest will follow.
No Pain, No Game is available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/No-Pain-Game-Lucie-Ataya/dp/B08GFRWHN4/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=lucie+ataya&qid=1611135083&sr=8-1
And all book details are also available on my website: https://www.lucieataya.com/writing
I’ve been focusing on getting the word out about my book through social media, but there are a few opportunities that came from places I hadn’t expected:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀🏼 My neighbourhood magazine:
 • I pinged them when the book first came out and they gave a whole double page to my story and the book in their last edition.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀🏼 The university where I did my undergrad degree:
• I contacted them a few weeks ago to let them know about the book, and they agreed to do a profile on their website and shout-out in their newsletter.
• This is why I had to take this picture, as they wanted a fresh photo with the book. It turned out to be a trickier endeavour than I thought (swipe and see - I don’t know what my face is doing in the second one!)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀🏼 A distant relative who’s an English teacher in a French high school:
• She’s studying dystopian fiction with her older students and we’re collaborating on a project and Q&A with her class
The first two came from me getting out of my comfort zone and proactively reaching out to ask for promotional opportunities.
The third one was through word of mouth and sheer good timing! All it takes is some word-spreading and outside the box thinking.
I’m currently writing my second book, which I’m aiming to release in the summer - watch this space :)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Indie authors, who all doesn’t yet know about your book?
Where is there an existing link you can use to get a foot in the door?
Local newspapers or blogs?
Universities you’ve attended?
Local libraries or book clubs?
School teachers you know?

Here comes another wonderful person, who is also an author,  willing to share his experience.
Thank you James. I visited your site, it's most impressive.
 😊

I am James D. A. Terry, the author of "Chasing the Wendigo," released on October 22, 2019.
I have also written four books under the pseudonym, Solomon Knight: Evil Lurks in the Dark, The Shadow Man, The Illusionist Takes a Holiday and Be Careful What You Wish For.
As a self-published author, I too struggle with reaching my target market. I have been heavily promoting my books, looking for reviewers. I haven't seen any results yet, but fortunately I write mostly for my own pleasure and not for my livelihood. In the meantime I'm writing a new Illusionist book and a sequel to Chasing the Wendigo.
I also host a gathering place for lovers of books where you're always among friends at: https://jamesdaterry.wixsite.com/thereadingroom
All of my books can be found at: https://thereadingroom.company.site/
Thank you kindly, Zel, for the opportunity to share.
Your friend,
James

Hello everyone,

Thank you all for a great response. There are quite a few who so generously shared their story. I am so grateful.  😊

My name is Kathleen Marple, and I'm the author of A FATAL FINALE, Kensington 4/28/20, and soon, A FATAL FIRST NIGHT 4/27/21, as well as a weekend radio anchor and weekday mom.
The link is here:  https://www.kensingtonbooks.com/9781496727237/
What I learned as a lockdown debut: professionalism, flexibility, and gratitude will always save you. After three brutal years of querying, much of it during a family health crisis, I FINALLY made my conventional pub debut in April. Even with the support of a large publisher, it was an extremely difficult environment. Social media was literally ALL there was. The publicist and social media expert at my publisher helped all they could, and I was fortunate to meet Ileana Munoz-Renfroe and get involved with Cozy Mystery Village on FB.
The big lesson here, though, is that the same great work habits that help in any other career help in "authoring." Know what's expected of you. Be where you should be when you should be there, prepared to work. Always thank people for their help, support and advice. Be graceful and flexible when circumstances change.
I'm not a bestseller, but I probably would not have been anyway. But I do have a solid base for the next one...and hope for better days ahead!
Hope that helps!

Hello my fellow writers!

My name is Zel and I am a self-published author.

I created this page with the desire for all debut and seasoned authors who want to share their experience of struggles they face and successes they accomplished. At the same time, they would promote their work on yet another platform.

Use the Contact page, or go to About the Author, select "Contact," fill in the required information, and in the comment section, share the following:
1) A little bit about yourself.
2) Share what worked or didn't work for you (success/struggle).
3) Tell us about your work and provide a link to where your book(s) can be purchased.
4) Let us know about any upcoming promotions.

Example:
I am Zel Winter, the author of "Unveiling," released on November 19th, 2020.
As a newly self-published author, the biggest struggle for me is reaching my target market. I have been heavily promoting my book, looking for reviewers for different platforms, hoping that would be fruitful. I haven't seen any results yet, but I know it's too early. In the meantime, so I don't lose my mind, I am writing the sequel and looking for kindred souls.

"Unveiling" is the first book of the Mythical Creatures Series trilogy. It is a YA, urban fantasy romance, and you can read more about it or purchase it here. (This is where you would provide your link.)

In collaboration with Voracious Readers Only, there will be a Giveaway starting Feb 4th, 2021.
😊
